He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Swart Steele of Crown Point, IN; three sons: Lonnie Allen (Carol) Steele of Valparaiso, IN, Max Dean (Aileen) Steele of Medaryville, IN and Bill Douglas (Billie Wellman) Steele of Valparaiso, IN; stepson, Clarke (Kim) Hockney of Crown Point, IN; stepdaughter, Caryn (Kurt) Whitehead of Crown Point, IN; 10 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.

Winfred was a graduate of Russell County High School in Hurtsboro, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with St. Paul AME Church. In 1971, he relocated to Hammond and was employed by American Steel. In 1972, he began employment with Inland Steel, retiring December 3r, 2003, with 31 years of dedicated service.

Preceded in death by his brother Clarence Robinson; father and stepmother: Nathaniel and Nona Robinson; maternal and paternal grandparents; aunts, uncles and cousins. Winfred leaves to cherish his memory, loving and devoted wife of 35 years Vicki; two sons: Ryan (Derria) and Regan; daughter Khalia; beloved mother, Viola Robinson; grandchildren: Rayna, Perri, Sidney, Ryan II and Joshua; four brothers: Nathaniel III, Alfred, Samuel (Avis), Alphonso (Claydene); three sisters: Annie Pearl, Gwendolyn and Cynthia (Orin); father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Ida Brown; six brothers-in-law: Patric, Keith, Todd, Eric, Robert (Jacqueline) and Orin (Cynthia); three sisters-in-law: Avis, Jacqueline and Claydene; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. JOYCE M. SHOFROTH GRIFFITH, IN Joyce M. Shofroth, age 84, of Griffith, passed away Wednesday, May- 7, 2008. She is survived by one son: Bill (Sherrie) Shofroth of Griffith, two daughters: Sharon (Danny) Norden of Calumet Township and Frances "Vee" (Denny) Gallagher of Griffith, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Frances (Ben) McFarlane of Pennsylvania, Jean (Richard) Paver of Illinois, and Pauline (Elmer) Paver of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and grandson Scott Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman blocks south of Ridge Highland, Indiana, with Shawn Cor-nett, Minister, officiating. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Indiana. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 2-8 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home. Joyce was retired from Guaranteed Reserve Insurance as an underwriter.
