About one bun dled relatives and friends witnessed the ceremony which took place under a beautiful wedding bell of white carnations, ferns and smilax. The bell was taately decorated with ferns, palms, carnations and peonies. The bride wore a beautiful gown of crepe de chine over taffua, made princess style. The ring bearer was little Marion Barlow, who was dressed In white organdie. Miss Pearl Campbell, who was maid of honor, wore a princess gown of pink Kamura silk.

The bridesmaid. Miss Belle Williams, wore a gown of pink silk null. Mr. Loucks was attended by his brother, Virgil Loucks. During the ceremony.

Promise Me" was sung very sweetly by Miss Frances Lundt. accompanied on the piano by Miss Gertrude Cole, who played the wedding march. Afteij the ceremony a dainty two course luncheon was served by the J. V. G.

girls, and dancing and a pleasant social evening spent. Mr. and Mrs. Loucks were the recipients of many very handsome gifts. They left last night for New York and Washington and will be at home after July 15 with Mr.

and Mrs. S. T. Loucks on North Magoun avenue. They have a large number of friends who extend to them hearty congratulations and best wishes.

John Eger was In Chicago on business yesterday. John Knapp and Charley Simpson were in Chicago yesterday. A daughter was bopn Tuesday to Mr. and Mrs. Nate Richards.

A daughter was born Tuesday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Swalm. Mrs. Saloma Wood died at her home near Lee Wednesday morning.

She was one of the oldest residents of this region and had attained the age of 94 years. The funeral will be held at Lee Saturday in the Weston cemetery. Frank Crister and Miss Kate Mauck went to Chicago Sunday evening where they were secretly married the next day. Their friends at home found it out. however, through the newspapers and a large crowd of their friends assembled and surprised them Tuesday-evening.

Moe, contractor, has begun putting In the stone foundation for the Sax building just north of Sixth avenue on Broadway. The roofers are putting on the tin roof of the Pennsylvania make shift station that is being built on the north aide of the tracks Just west of Broadway. Itev. and Mrs. Deuel are moving into their new quarters south of the Pennsylvania.

Their furniture Is expected to arrive within a ihort time and when this Is Installed, they will be at home to all. Ilev. Deuel held services last avenigr at the South Gary Officer Newman took four prisoners to Crown Point this morning, the first bunch that has gone down for several days. Most of the men arrested now are men that are employed and when fined for an offense committed, are generally able to raise the money without being obliged to lay It out in jail. Inspector K.

E. Beck spent this afternoon here checking up local agents and getting them In better working order on the new conditions. A rate book has just been published, the first one to be issued on Gary. It was not up to date entirely, but Is as nearly so as can be expected under the rapidly Changing conditions. The special feature man, Moss, of the Record-Herald Sunday Magazine section, stopped off between trains this morning.

He has just returned from doing the exposition at Jamestown and recommends going there about the first of August. Says it's great but not Quite done. Inspector Stockberg stole a march on the other boys of the Steel company (and when they missed him a few mornings ago, were informed that lie had Becured a house on the east side, fur- rilshed It and gotten married. Mr. and Mrs.

Stockberg are at home in one of the small double cottages east of Virginia street. Frank Wilder has practically completed his work of grading Eleventh avenue from Broadway to Madison street. The Steel company has its part of the grading from Madison street to Gary's west line also well in hand and it is expected that the Illinois Improvement and Ballast company will begin to haul in slag and gravel within the days. If the contractor on South Broadway would cooperate with the work on Eleventh avenue and finish the north end of his work first, it vould be possible to get a fine road into Gary from the outside by the middle of summer in spite of the vexatious delays that both board and company have encountered in their efforts to get a road through. The Thomas Phee company is the rtumocr of men employed all of the time and every day finds additional equipment for the work they have In hand on the Gary and Western.

About eighty rods of piling in the form of supporting' arches with four piling to each arch, have been driven south of the Wabash running in a curve to the west. Car load after car load of crushed limestone and cement arrives daily for use in making the heavy concrete abuttments that are under construction on either side of the Wabash tracks. The Wabasli has extended Its side tracks from Virginia street the former end of the track, on out to where the Phee company is at work in order to accommodate the additional demand for track room. GRIFFITH NEWS Theodore Liable, our town Judge, visited Hammond Tuesday. He is making quite extensive improvements on his property on Russell street In that city.

Charles Barney, our rural mall carrier, is considering the purchase of another horse. For the past three years one horse has made the regular daily trips without missing one and seems to thrive on it. notwithstanding the fact that the route is one of longest In the county. Russell Merriman of Bangor, arrived in Lowell Wednesday to join his wife, who has been visiting relatives here the last three weeks. William Buckley anil wife have returned from a visit to their sons at Brazil, Ind. They report Fred In very feeble health, being able to be up only part of the time.

The announcement is made that Joseph Lange and Miss Olive Palmer were marled at Chicago Heights last Sunday. The contracting parties are both well known in Lowell. They will make their home In Chicago Heights, and their many friends join in extending congratulations. MUNSTER NEWS Mr. Sous of Dyer was a Munster visitor yesterday.

Miss Henrika Munster is spending the week in lloseland. Miss Ei-ma Kaske went to Chicago to visit relatives this week. Mr. and Miss Sevrin of Pyer were entertained by Miss Anna Dittrich. William Krosuyk and Charles Dittrich were visiting In Dyer yesterday.

Many of our Munster young people report having had a delightful time at the party given Monday evening by Mr. Selpp of Highlands. Mrs. Krug, a pioneer resident of Saxony, living there since 1S64 till a few years ago, died in Chicago and was buried in Hessville Sunday. The Misses Stallbohm and Kaske were entertained by Miss Mary Kuhl-man last evening.

Musical selections were' given by Miss Kaske and William Dittrich. WHEELER NEWS Misses Jennie and Mary Janes were Chicago visitors Tuesday. Mrs. Clara Smith of South Chicago is spending a few weeks In Wheeler. The barn standing on the Eaton place in town, has been moved to the farm of Lewis Robinson.

Andrew Harris, of Wolverine, formerly of Wheeler, accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. Cora Mayer, of East Chicago, visited Wednesday with his sister, Mrs. Covey. EAST CHICAGO NEWS Mrs. Abbie Thomas visited friends In Chicago today.
