By ANDREA HOLECEK Sal Wmer Indiana State Police and State Excise Police confiscated video poker machines and other gambling devices Wednesday during raids at seven service or fraternal organizations, and closed another that doesn't have liquor license. Police said as a result of citizen complaints, a federal court order was issued by the Northern District of Indiana in July authorizing the raids. They court order makes video poker machines illegal and seizable on site by any police officer. The organizations raided and equipment seized include: Amvets Post 15, 13335 Morse St, Cedar Lake.

No machines found, but post had no license to dispense liquor. The organizations also were cited for numerous alcoholic beverage violations, police said. They said tips are the used in the machine in place of money and are usually bought from the bartender. The stamp machine is a device that is used to compute a video poker machine player's winnings. Police said no charges have been filed against the organizations, but the information gathered in the raid will be presented to the U.S.

Attorney's Office and Lake County Prosecutors Office and charges may be filed at a later date. HOWAT, ETHEL R. Famed designer, 56, dies MICHALIK, MATT Michalik, Matt age 75 of Hammond, Indiana passed away Tuesday, August 29, 1989. Survivors: wife, Anne (Tntacko); one daughter, Dolly (James) Spoerner of Hammond; one granddaughter, Suzanne Spoerner; one brother, Eugene (Helen) Michalik of Merrillville; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Ann) Tutacko of East Chicago and Tom Ban as of Hobart; sister- inlaw, Elsie Wiewiora of Mon-ticello; nieces and nephews. Survivors: two daughters, Lillian (Frank) Hill and Sharon 1Gary) Nelson, both of Calumet City, Illinois; ten grandchildren; ten great-gran-children; one brother-in-law, Fritz Schroeder of Homestead, Florida; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband John T. in July of 1972 and daughter, Janice Ralph in January, 1988.
