Martin pleaded guilty Monday in Porter County Court to a charge of second degree burglary for the theft of 356 bushels of soybeans late Friday night from Porter County Farm Bureau Co-op grain elevator in Wheeler. County Court Judge Bryce Billings bound Martin over to Porter Superior Court, stating that he did not have jurisdiction to sentence the defendant. Meanwhile, Martin has been allowed to remain free on $5,000 bond. Police discovered Martin had used a borrowed truck with a broken tailgate to haul beans he had taken late Friday from the elevator, but because of the broken tailgate, he left a trail that two Co-op employes, Jack Runion and Morris Hickman, were able to follow to Martin's home near Indiana 2.
